Meet Our Horses

We currently have five Belgians and eight Percherons in our stables. Just like humans, our horses have wonderful and distinct personalities.

We invite you to take a few minutes and read about each of our treasured CTOS (Carriage Tours of Savannah) co-workers.

Billy

Charlie

Clark

Bob

(Height: 18 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Pisces) Billy is tall, lanky Percheron, who likes long walks under the trees. This laid-back horse has been doing tours for over 5 years. Though he's a bit gangly looking, he is actually from a prize-winng bloodline, and he never lets us forget it. He enjoys country music while chowing down his favorite food, beet pulp.

(Height: 16 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Aquarius) Being an Aquarius, Charlie is very inventive. He is believed to be the reincarnation of Harry Houdini, having learned how to liberate himself and his favored co-workers from their stalls. (He also knows how to hold a grudge…he never let Pete out!) Charlie’s favorite movie is Hildago.

(Height: 15.2 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Cancer) Clark is the veteran of the barn. He has trained many drivers in the fine art of leisurely-paced tours. This sometimes chubby Percheron, has to limit his sweets in order to maintain the lean figure favored by his girlfriend, Lady Bug (see below.) Clark likes pizza crusts from Vinnies.

(Height: 18 “hands”; Breed: Belgian; Sign: Aquarius) Bob is a husky Belgian, who’s favorite game is Hide ‘n’ Seek. When not working, Bob likes to run in the paddock and whinny at the barn cat. His favorite music is Country, particularly Billy Currington, having met him on a tour. (He was star struck...he didn't wash his face for a week!)

Kevin

Murphy

Guinness

Justice

(Height: 17.2 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Capricorn) According to his former owner, Kevin seemed destined to lead folks through a city as beautiful as Savannah. Just as he did at his original home at Rock Bottom Farms in Savannah, Ohio, (we didn't know there was a "Savannah Ohio" either!) he takes his work seriously, and takes pride in a job well done. This noble gentleman, who is generally reserved, clearly enjoys meeting the public.

(Height: 17.2 “hands”; Breed: Belgian; Sign: Gemini) One of the two “babies” in our stable, Murphy is a bit of a narcissist, having carefully groomed that stunning "Troy Donahue" bleach blond surfer dude look…(Murphy insists his color is all natural, however). Like his twin half brother Guinness, Murphy was found with his muzzle deep in a bucket of Hops and Barley.

(Height: 17.2 “hands”; Breed: Belgian; Sign: Gemini) The other “baby” is this four year old who took right to the street. Guniness got his name after being found sneaking Hops and Barley with his brother Murphy. Guniness is usually very lazy, but loves to buck and roll and romp when let out to play. Guinness loves a good Irish limerick now and again.

(Height: 17.2 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Sagittarius) Justice just can't help looking and whinnying at this reflection in store windows as he passes on tour. He is also from Savannah, Ohio (see Kevin) but has an entirely different approach to his work. Justice pays little attention to the passing scenery (unless it's his reflection) and is content to distract himself with the carriage equipment while letting the other horse in the team make all the decisions.

Ladybug

King

Cheney

Dell

(Height: 16 “hands”; Breed: Belgian; Sign: Libra) This former “Miss Georgia Equine”, has no trouble getting dates. The barn gossip is that she and Clark are an “item”. Lady Bug pines for Clark in his absence and whinnies his name until he returns. The duo are stabled right next to one another, as they like it. LadyBug loves to get a good pedicure (look for her “twinkle toes” when she’s working).

(Height: 17.3 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Pisces, "on the cusp of Aries") King, a pedigreed Percheron, (his registered name is actually Excelsior Leviticus) is entrhalled by the beauty of the city. He enjoys the tours as much as our passengers. He is very observant, noticing not only the lovely squares and historic homes, but every cobblestone, crosswalk or manhole cover as he leads passengers through the streets of Savannah. (Santa may have to bring him a camera.)

(Height: 18 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Aquarius) Though he thinks he is a lap dog, Cheney is another of our registered Percherons, (a.k.a. Rolling Hills Cheney). He is very affectionate, but King tells us it's just Cheney 'kissing up' to us in order to get more play time. As it is, he gets plenty of play time between tours because he brings his rubber ducky to the carriage stand. (as pictured) Now really, how many jobs are there where you get to take your toys to work?

(Height: 17 “hands”; Breed: Percheron; Sign: Taurus) Bull headed Dell, likes to show who’s boss. He gets along well with Charlie as long as Charlie does his share of the pulling... which is about 10% of the time. He's not the most affectionate horse when it comes to strangers (count your fingers after petting him). Though he's all business at work, Dell does love a good laugh (see his picture) and a good belly scratchin'.

O'Shea

(Height: 17.2 “hands”; Breed: Belgian; Sign: Leo) Watch out, ladies! This blue-eyed blonde is a 'hottie'! "Shea," as we call him, is still in training. Though he is our newest employee, only three years old, he has quickly made it known that he has the drive and ambition to work his way to upper management. Despite his pretty face, he is very centered and in touch with his 'inner horse.'

If you are a hard-working draft horse who would like to work in the sunny south, please contact our barn manager. Great benefits including food, lodging, and comprehensive health care.

Fred

Carriage Tours of Savannah owes a great deal of debt to horses like Fred and Duke who have helped contribute to our success.

Duke

Few people have the privilege of working with such noble animals as our beautiful draft horses. They have made a lasting impact on everyone at CTOS.
